He was a spectator at practice Thursday and likely won’t put on pads until San Francisco opens training camp in July. That led to speculation that Gore might be nursing an injury. But when questioned about it on Thursday, Gore was as elusive as he has been on the field. ”I’m cool, I’m good,” he said. ”I’m just listening to (head trainer Jeff Ferguson). He told me he didn’t want me doing anything right now, and I’m listening. I’m just getting my body back.

Its the same way with (wide receiver) Anquan Boldin, hes not a vocal person, but he works and he has had a nice career. Boldin also has what Gore covets, a Super Bowl ring. My career at this point is about winning, Gore said. The last two years here have been fun for me. They have been the best years of my career. Gore is now surrounded by like-minded teammates players who are talented and dedicated. That wasnt the case when he first became a starter seven seasons ago.

Bommarito says most players attend training at the Miami Beach location because its bigger and centrally located. With about 75 employees at both locations, BPS helps athletes with training in footwork, strength endurance, power, agility, movement, position work and aquatics. The center also offers nutritional guidance from a private chef, physical therapy , massage therapy , chiropractics and Pilates and yoga classes. The company also has programs for youths, high school and college athletes. Most recently, BPS hosted and trained Plantations Sloane Stephens before her Wimbledon outing. Its the centers NFL draft prep that Bommarito credits with drawing NFL players back for year-round training. Its what drew Gore to Bommarito after graduating from Miami.

First of all, it doesn’t look to be that serious. Plus, the 49ers really didn’t need their most productive player of the first half of the season during a big victory over one of the top teams in the NFC on Sunday. Gore, who rushed for 782 yards and five touchdowns on 159 attempts during the first eight games of the season, had six carries for a net gain of zero yards against the New York Giants before leaving the game with a knee injury late in the second quarter. The two-time Pro Bowler actually started jogging onto the field to start the second half but was called back by running backs coach Tom Rathman. After the game , Gore said his injury wasn’t serious and Coach Jim Harbaugh was confident Gore would be able to take part in next week’s game against Arizona. “I felt like I could have played,” Gore said.

I wish I would have read the defense better, then stepped back inside (to block) and help Kap get a better throw.” Hurried up the middle, Kaepernick threw incomplete to Michael Crabtree on fourth down, sealing the 49ers’ first Super Bowl loss in six trips. Blocking is what’s separated Gore from most tailbacks. Last season, he smothered Bears linebacker Lance Briggs on a goal-line, blitz pickup. But the block — the play — most admired by running backs coach Tom Rathman came two weeks later, when Gore threw a cut block that sprung Kaepernick for a 50-yard run in St. Louis. As Gore returns for a ninth season, it’s worth noting Rathman played in nine (1986-93 49ers, 1994 Raiders) before his body told him to retire.

FINALLY: Eagles grab plummeting QB Gore overcame two major knee injuries during his college career at Miami (Fla.) but has evolved into one of the NFL’s best running backs. “I know I’m going to get to know him a little better once I get there,” Lattimore, speaking from Columbia, S.C., told news reporters during a conference call Saturday. “So I’m real excited about that.” Lattimore seemed destined to become the top-rated running back in the draft until suffering a gruesome injury against Tennessee, when his knee was dislocated and three ligaments were torn. A year after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, he had reconstructive surgery Nov. 2, performed by renowned surgeon James Andrews, to repair the anterior cruciate, lateral collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee. “Right after it happened, I doubted myself and I lost hope,” said Lattimore, who scored a school-record 41 touchdowns. “But one of my good friends came over, I got a chance to talk to Frank Gore, I got a chance to talk to Willis McGahee, and I realized God doesn’t make mistakes. He did everything for a reason and he put me in this situation.
